Reiki :
A Brief introduction
|
|||
|
Reiki is a gentle
healing therapy that is used to treat a number of
conditions. The Reiki healing can be used for physical or emotional
problems and has no restrictions with regard to whom and what can be
treated. The healing takes the form of a therapist gently laying their hands on the person and clearing the energy blockages that have occurred in the body following trauma, grief or disease etc. It has been found of benefit to even the most chronic conditions but is by no means a cure all. The aim of the therapist is to help the bodies own healing system to work more efficiently and to relax and calm the person’s body and mind. A Japanese Doctor called Micau Usui who was first reported to be carrying out healing during the earthquakes in Tokyo in 1930 brought this healing system to the attention of the world. Doctor Usui had studied in many countries and within many religions to discover the origins of Reiki. The System was brought out of Japan in the 1950’s and was first introduced into Hawaii by Mrs. Takata who was a Japanese Hawaiian. This lady then went on to become the Grand Master of Reiki, as we know it and her granddaughter is now the current Grand Master. Reiki is practiced all over the world and has been experienced by many. Anyone can become a practitioner. Each one of us is born with a healing channel and the attunement to Reiki opens that channel so that you are then able to treat yourself and others. I am a Natural Therapist that has included Reiki in my practice for the past four years. During that time I gained my 1st and 2nd attunements and am now a Master. If you would like to have more
information regarding this therapy, either about treatments or on how
to become a practitioner, please free to contact
me. As a Reiki Master I hold workshops for those who wish to become practitioners. back to top |

Reiki
is the use of Universal energy to balance the body and the mind. When a person has been attuned to Reiki then that person is able to become a channel for the universal energy that exists around us. There are many ways to help people to heal themselves by balancing their body energies, in this instance the Reiki practitioner allows energy to be passed through them to the person needing help. The energy is only able to travel through the therapist into the person if that person allows it. By this I mean that the person who has come for a treatment must want that energy to flow. The therapist is only a channel he/she cannot induce this energy into the energy pathways of another he/she is only there to assist its passage. The way in which the energy does its work is by clearing and opening the chakras of the body. The chakras are energy centres that control the flow into and out of the body. A simple way of describing them is to picture a wheel that spins, in the centre of that wheel is an opening where energy is moved in and out. When the energy of the body is disturbed for some reason the chakra reacts by closing the opening and slowing down the rate at which it spins. What happens when a chakra is not performing in an open and balanced way is that the body becomes prone to some form of disturbance and that disturbance then manifests itself in a physical problem. back to top

| How do you become a channel for Reiki | |||
|
First
you must ask your self would this gift of Reiki be of use to me
or can I use it for others. This is the way in which we decide what is
important to ourselves, the using of this energy to improve our own
well being, or the using of the energy for the benefit of others. If you have chosen it for yourself then that is absolutely fine if you have chosen it to use for others then this is also fine. The difference in choosing a Reiki master to attune you to this energy is based on the reason for your personal needs. A Reiki Master is there to bring you to the point of being able to channel the energy, the Reiki Master is also responsible for the way in which you develop the use of that energy. There are many Reiki Masters who attune a student and then allow that student to use the energy as and when they want to. This is perfectly all right if it is only a tool for your wellbeing, but you need a different Reiki master if you intend to use it for the treatment of others. When you set about becoming a Reiki therapist you have to develop the energy to flow in a much greater way, your channel has to change from that of a small tube to that of a large pipe. Guidance in the development of your channel is necessary to ensure that you are going to give the best treatment that you possibly can and to do that you have an understanding of the energies that you are moving in and out of the body. It takes time to learn these things so you must choose a Master that is going to take time to teach you. There are a number of attunements by Masters that do not offer any further teaching and if you are considering taking one of these just because they appear cheaper then I ask you to consider in what way they are cheaper. Are they only cheaper in monetary terms or are they cheaper in content. Value the attunement for yourself as a user of this wonderful gift and then look at what you actually achieve in the long run. When the person has chosen a Master that Master should continue to be a teacher for as long as that person needs them. In time that person may want to go on to become a Master, this is when the teaching that they have received will become very important indeed. back to top

| The Attunements | |||
|
The
first attunement is to open the pathway for the energy and is
aimed at teaching the person how to use Reiki to keep himself or
herself well and balanced. The second attunement is to allow a greater flow of energy through the therapist to the recipient. The master attunement is to give the Reiki practitioner the ability to open the channel for others The first two attunements are usually held over two days, each day is used to give two separate attunements. The master attunement is followed by a year of training. back to top

| Usui Shiki Ryoho Method of Reiki | |||
|
There
are a number of different types of Reiki. The Usui Method is
thought to be one of the purist forms and can be traced back through
Masters to the person who brought this ancient therapy back into
use. Mikao Usui was thought to have been a teacher and a person who was very interested in the origins of healing as read about in the Bible and in Bhuddist translations. Dr Usui spent a very large part of his life travelling and studying the writings about healing. In many different places and in many different languages he found a common theme to the method of introducing these healing qualities. At long last he returned to Japan and in despair went to fast for a number of days at the end of his fast he had what may be termed a revelation. He thought that a ball of very intense light entered his head and in that moment he understood what it was that he had not taken into account in his experiments to open the path of energy. The use of the symbols written in many books did not go into the way in which those symbols could be used for the opening up of the person’s chakras to allow the flow. I could go into greater depth about this great man and his life but this is, I hope, enough information for now. There are many books that you can find about Dr Usui and I would encourage you to read as many as possible and make up your own mind as to the origins of this wonderful gift. back to top |

| The Benefits of Reiki | |||
|
This
gentle therapy can be used for many differing complaints both
mental and physical. It must be said that Reiki is not a miracle cure
it is a way in which the body can be helped to clear and balance itself
and in this way it is possible for the body to use it’s own
healing
systems. The wonderful thing about Reiki is that it can be used even in the most difficult conditions. Because the client does not have to undress or even be lying, those conditions that would prevent the person from taking part in other treatments, can be addressed. It also has to be said that Reiki can be used to enhance most other therapies. Whenever you are touching a client that client may be able to take advantage of the energy that you channel. back to top
